The other day I got an email from my Mother, saying, amongst other things, that she was curious about Facebook. Is it something she should join, what is it? etc. She said she had heard about this from her various nieces, who are all on Facebook, and have been finding me lately, after 30 years of not knowing them. Of course, I freaked out. My Mom cannot join Facebook-no way. That was my first thought, and I had that thought for a week or so. Now , all of these long lost relatives are finding me-and the jury is still out if that's a good thing. Plus I saw myself spending not only too much time on my own page, but helping my Mom to figure out how to use Facebook-I'd have no life-not that I have much of one now, as evidenced my my Facebook Page. Today, I read this article that says the fastest growing number of people joining Facebook is the over 55 year old demo. Here's the article: Facebook over 55-ers I'm not sure what I'm afraid of, since none of these people are actually packing their bags and showing up at my doorstep (yet). I live a pretty clean life, and don't have a bunch of hangover photos on my page, so what the heck. I can always block them later-and deal the the aftermath.
